We live in exciting times. Technology has improved our lives and health in this century more than any other time in history. Nowhere is this more evident than in the introduction of dental lasers.

Dental lasers have been around for about a decade. However they were large bulky machines that didn’t fit well in the dental setting. They were also extremely expensive with inconsistent results. This left most dental professionals skeptical about the technology.

Fast forward to today. Dental lasers have finally come into their own. With less expensive desktop models and consistent result, we can now all enjoy the painless ease of dental laser procedures.

Surprise Dental and Denture offers a variety of dental laser procedures.

LBR- Laser Bacterial Reduction – This procedure is usually done during a regular preventive dental cleaning. The laser is used to sterilize the gum tissue pocket around the teeth. The procedure is painless and takes about 10 to 30 minutes.
This is also known as a “laser cleaning.”

LAPT – Laser Assisted Periodontal Therapy – This procedure is usually done in conjunction with Quadrant Scaling and Root Planing. The laser is used to melt away infected tissue in the deep gum pockets around the teeth.

Laser Cold Sore Treatment – This procedure is done during the initial onset of a cold sore. This will shorten the duration of the cold sore and prevent it from ever coming back in that area. The treatment takes less than 5 minutes.

Laser Gingivectomy – This procedure is usually done to remove excess gum tissue that has over grown the teeth. Excess gum tissue growth can be a genetic condition or can be caused by some medications. This is considered a cosmetic procedure.

Frenectomy – This procedure is done to remove a fiber of tissue in the upper or lower lip, or under the tongue. This tissue is called a Frenum. In some instances, a large Frenum can cause orthodontic or speech problems and should be removed. Lasers provide, a painless treatment for this problem. This is welcome news for parents since children are the most common recipients of this procedure.
